The 2011 / 2012 season is now underway. The teams have now completed their first few games of the hockey season and are still adjusting to their competition.
With non-checking being new in Windsor Minor hockey this year I know there will be a huge adjustment on how players play and how coaches need to coach. I can only hope everyone involved can adjust accordingly and enjoy this season.

For the teams affected by the delay in the opening of Adie Knox arena I would like to say thank you for your patience and understanding. We have been in close contact with the city to get as much notice to the families affected each week. Now that it is open I do not see any further disruptions to those divisions season. Games that need to be made up will be scheduled in a timely manner with as much notice as possible.
All families need to understand that the teams were 100% picked by the coaches and their staff. The system is set up so that the coach is able to draft the players that he or she feels are best for their team and their division without manipulation.

So that everyone is clear on how each division runs, the bantam divisions have a game and practice each week. Minor midget divisions this year have a game each week with practices happening hopefully every 2 to 3 weeks apart depending on how the teams feel the need. The midget major/juvie division has a game each week. As the players get older their non hockey life is filled with school, work and either girlfriends or boyfriends. It is these reasons for the difference in games and practices in each division and how we budget the registration accordingly. This was fully explained at each of the parent orientations.
The bantam tier 2 division is set up to run with a two man referee system. This was done so that more hockey and less infractions hopefully happen due to the 2 referee’s being able to now call the infractions.

The work involved in getting twenty (20) teams put together and on the ice is an exhausting feat. As it is said by each person involved in this process more volunteers are always needed. The best way for a person to have their thoughts and ideas looked at and heard is to get involved, please do not hesitate to volunteer.
Families should thank all the front line volunteers and ones behind the scenes, all of whom put in endless hours with the end result being the 2011 / 2012 hockey season
Please always refer to this website, www.wmha.net , one of the best in minor hockey or the house major website, www.leaguelineup.com/housemajor , for all information that deals with Windsor Minor Hockey and house major.
THERE ARE STILL SPOTS OPEN IN THE MINOR MIDGET & MIDGET MAJOR/JUVIE DIVISIONS.
In closing I can only say that I wish a great season to each player, coaching staff and parent. I hope that all of us become better people through this year’s hockey experience.
Thanks always.
