Welcome To House Major

With great success, the 2009-10 season has ended. We are hard at work preparing for the 2010-11 season.

I cannot say thanks enough, as I do each year, to all the volunteers I was able to work with throughout the past season. On behalf of Windsor Minor Hockey, I would like to thank all the players, parents and sponsors for their support and involvement in this great association.

I know that this is said each year but must keep being said, VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED. Minor hockey is completely run with volunteers, so ANY help that you can give is sincerely appreciated by those that are already helping, and is noticed by all the players. Chris Banwell, holding the position of Director of House Major, did an exceptional job again making sure the house major divisions ran with as few problems as possible.  If anyone has any thoughts or concerns, please do not hesitate to email Chris or myself.

The Windsor Choristers Athletic Club
is a Proud Sponsor
of the Bantam Division, Tier One

We are pleased to announce that the board has been able to lower registration by $25.00 in every division. This is truly impressive when we all thought that we would have to increase registration due to the HST.  The Board was also able to decrease the cost of clinics so that more families are able to offer this to their kids.  The Board is committed to the membership to work as hard as possible in making minor hockey as affordable as humanly possible without shortchanging the players any part of their season.

The 2010-11 season will have a bit of a change in the ref systems in both bantam and minor midget. In both bantam tier 1 and minor midget tier 1, there will be the usual 1 ref 2 linesman system. In bantam tier 2 and minor midget tier 2, there will be a 2 ref system. We are doing this so that both systems are worked on by the referees. The playoff round robin will be done in a tournament style weekend.  In the past, some divisions took 5 weeks to complete the round robin part of the playoffs. We feel this will bring some new excitement to this part of the season.

We are still trying to find out our ice allocation for the 2010-11 season from the City of Windsor. When we have that, I will add that information to this page. Please be patient on this topic.

One issue I am again going to address at the start of this season is the conduct of parents in the arenas.  The parent orientation at the start of last year was very successful and allowed the parents to hear first hand the answers to many questions asked.  I again hope at that time to be able to answer ALL questions that parents have been wanting to ask and explain why things are run the way they are. This will be done so to prevent any incidents due to lack of knowledge.  This will be a mandatory orientation for the parent or parents of all house major players.

Please always refer to this website, www.wmha.net , one of the best in minor hockey or the house major website, www.leaguelineup.com/housemajor , for all information that deals with Windsor Minor Hockey and have a great summer.

Thanks always.
